It's Official! Christina Milian Is Back! But, Do We Care?

Posted on September 22, 2008 4:47 PM

Former Def Jam recording artist, Christina Milian has been rumored to be signing with the newly formed Myspace Records for months. But, the news has finally been made official.

New reports are coming out that Nick Cannon's former girl will go at it again on the Billboard charts.

However, her return might not go as smoothly as many hope because though the social media site is pushing forward to create the company by securing top-notch advertisers, they seem to be missing a key, integral part of forming a new company...a CEO.

On Sunday, Newscorp-owned MySpace identified Toyota, McDonald's, State Farm and Sony Pictures as advertisers for the soon-to-launch and potentially game-changing joint venture with the major labels.

Longer-term, plans call for the site to be a tightly integrated hub for almost every kind music product, including subscriptions, ringtones, merchandise and concert tickets.

EMI has yet to join the venture, which still hasn't worked out arrangements with most indie labels and a number of pubberies, who are seeking equity opportunities comparable to those hammered out by minority owners UMG, SMEI and Warner Music.

Putting it into lamens terms; the people over at Myspace records seems to be more concerned about securing their business with advertisers and branding opportunities, rather than  focusing on who's going to run that b*tch.

It can't be just anyone.

Today's music industry climate is a direct result of the changing times, but not changing executives.

Myspace is going to have to get someone who understands the new digital era we're in.

Let's hope that Christina's new album, or the other artists signed to the new pioneering company, doesn't suffer from all of this.

They say hindsight is 50/50. So I bet you if Christina Milian had to do it over again she would have recorded that damn "S.O.S."

For those of you who didn't know, Christina refused to record the smash hit. Def Jam tried to get her to do the song, but I guess Christina was feeling herself a little too much back then.

They then passed it along to Rhianna, and the rest is, well you know, history!
